5 Questions for…

In February 2021, we had the pleasure to be interviewed by the lovely Chantal Valerie. She is a real all-round talent. After working in different parts of the world as a cook, a creative, a writer and city guide, she now settled in Amsterdam and focuses on her beautiful illustrations. Being a creative self-starter herself, she started a wonderful blog series, called ‘4 Questions for … ‘, which consists of inspiring interviews of people that move her. Collab with Sanne Hop

We first met Sanne through a good friend of ours. We used to chat during our daughter’s ballet classes and immediately liked each other. Sanne is such a wonderfully warm, open-minded and creative person. We quickly learned that she also ran her own business, selling handmade & sustainable products.

a Dutch interior TV show on NPO 2 for a fun hometour.

Keeping of the sheep – a tribute to Hamu

Up until the 70s, half of Morocco’s shepherds were under the age of 15 years old. Hamu, Driss’s father, started to take care of sheep when he was only 6 years old. The family could not feed all of their children and so he went to become a herder at a young age. What’s remarkable is that he always spoke positively about his time as a herder.

Handira wedding blankets

The origin of the handira wedding blankets is deeply rooted in the Moroccan Amazigh culture. A handira was traditionally made by the bride’s family and worn by her at the wedding as a cape. The blanket was given to the bride as a symbol of fertility and good luck to protect the newly wedded couple.
