Introducing Alexa von Heyden! Many of our German clients might already know her from her popular blog or Instagram. Alexa is a journalist, author, Pilates teacher and podcast creator. Yes, this  super smart, fun and gorgeous woman is a real multi-talent! After a career in Journalism, she started publishing her own books, which are based on her  life story. Besides that, she once had her own little jewellery line and in 2007, she started her blog Alexa Peng. On her blog, Alexa shares inspiration on fashion, interior design, beauty and health, and this year, she even became a certified Pilates instructor! I have always admired Alexa for her optimism, adaptability, her skill to overcome obstacles, and for her courage to embrace challenges.

So, how did our paths cross? Well,  Alexa happens to be the best childhood and youth friend of one of Bettina’s closest friends from Germany. As the saying goes, "Friends of friends are friends", Betty and Lexi became friends themselves throughout the years. This friendship laid the foundation for our beautiful collaboration.

Shared passions
A few years ago, Alexa and her family moved from Berlin to a more serene setting, taking on the ambitious project of renovating a lake house in Brandenburg – much like we did with our own house in Amsterdam back in 2011. They completely remodelled their home with lots of love and attention to detail. Both of us share a deep love for natural materials, appreciating the warmth and character they bring to a home. Naturally, our Weavery rugs found a perfect spot in Alexa’s beautifully renovated home.

During one of Alexa’s visits to our cosy B&B The Weavery in Amsterdam, we once again talked about our shared passion for interior, rugs and natural materials. It sparked an idea: why not create something beautiful together? Thus, the idea of The Weavery x AvH collection was born.

Love for nature
Alexa’s love for nature inspired the designs of this mini collection. The Pink Diamond runner features a natural sand-coloured base with a stunning Soft Pink diamond design. The Rainbow kids’ room rug brings a more vibrant pattern that captures the playful spirit of nature, while The Beach living room rug reflects Alexa’s love for the water. Initially, we are launching a limited number of these unique pieces, as we believe in mindful production. After that, each rug will be made on demand.

Shared responsibilities
Just like in nature, we depend on others as much as they depend on us. This ethos is at the heart of The Weavery x AvH collection. Each rug is a labor of love, handmade with artistry, patience and precision. By purchasing a rug, you help us support and empower our skilled artisan weavers. The wool comes from happy Moroccan sheep that graze naturally at the foot of the Atlas Mountains. This slow, careful crafting process means every rug is unique—perfectly imperfect in its shape, pattern and colors, bringing good karma into your home.
